Well, I have been making lots of stuff with my hoard of beads and things. Haven't quite finished everything thing that I have started but I will eventually.
I started on a Mermaid's Necklace in freeform, that will use lots of beads:
still can't decide how I want to hang it, playing with some possibilities ( any suggestions?0
next I went to a Gem and Mineral show and bought a bunch of stones so I did a little wire wrapping:
That is it so far, my bead hoard is not much smaller, but I have been busy and it was fun! Annita
Freeform is something I've never tried. Wonderful start to it, I'll be looking forward to seeing it's progress!
ReplyDeleteI am considering hanging it from some pearls in various shades of greens and blues. Will post pics when finished
DeleteThat mermaid piece is awesome. Want to go to the beach!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cece, I had a great time making it so far
DeleteThis definitely makes me want to go to the beach! Beautiful pieces - looking forward to following your progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I love the beach, unfortunately I don't live near one any more, but I did move a big tub of shells with me when we moved to Oklahoma from South Florida
DeleteBeautiful pieces, I can't wait to see what else you do!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, I had lots of fun with the mermaid piece so far, I will most likely add a mix of pearls to the necklace part, when I find my stash of pearls LOL
DeleteThat shell is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca, it was part of the stash of shells that I moved to Oklahoma with me from Florida several years ago. I loved the barnacle piece on the outside it was the perfect spot to add a pearl. Annita
Deletewow!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula! :) Annita
DeleteI like the idea of you using the shells in your designs.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wish I still lived near the beach, but you can't always live where you want. At least I am by the lake here in Oklahoma so that is something. Annita
DeleteWhat a beautiful mermaid necklace, and I can see the start of some gorgeous other pieces with those beads you purchased.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marlene, I have so many beads and so little time, but I will get more done eventually (and keep adding to my hoard)
DeleteAnnita
Gorgeous - I haven't tried freeform beading yet, I am quite afraid to :) Your mermaid necklace is gorgeous. I love the shell wrapping a lot! (I like the other 2 as well, but the shell really speaks to me!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Alicia, I love wire wrapping but I am becoming hooked on the free form too!
DeleteI wish I had the talent for freeform. Love your beads!
ReplyDeleteCynthia, I found the free form to be quite liberating, if you make a mistake you just incorporate it into the design and do whatever you like. no rules in free form Annita
DeleteLove the wrapped clam shell :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is my favorite wire wrap project so far. Annita
DeleteOmg the wirewrapped shell ! I would have NEVER thought to do that ! It's downright sublime !
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Audrey, I have wrapped a couple of shells in the past, this was my first scallop shell and I was really happy with how it turned out. Annita
DeleteYour theme is wonderful, Annita... everyone loves the sea and her gifts. I am sure these awesome components will find themselves in beautiful completed works of art soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Monique, I picked up some pearls yesterday to finish off the Mermaids necklace will post pics when completed. Annita
DeleteLove the wire wrapped shell. All are great pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had fun working on them and still have lots of things in my hoard to keep on going. Annita
DeleteThe seashell freform pendent is my fav!
ReplyDeleteIt could be perfect with a beaded crochet necklace!!!
Thanks Ilenia, you are right a beaded crochet necklace would be great but I have failed many times attempting bead crochet so I will most likely hang it from pearls with perhaps a few crystals thrown in. Annita
DeleteWow! The freeform pendant is spectacular!!! The wire wrapped shells are a great idea. Such lovely work- Christie
ReplyDeleteThanks Charis! I love working natural materials into my work. Annita
DeleteI love each piece of this beautiful jewellery you've made! The wrapped shell with the pearl is my favourite, it's so delicate!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with creating more jewellery later on :-)and have a great ☼ summer ☼
Thanks Dini, I love how that shell turned out also. I wasn't real sure when I started that I would be able to wrap it successfully, but it came together easier than expected. Annita
DeleteAnnita your jewelry is wonderful. The Mermaid's Necklace is way cool. I think I would stitch spiral rope straps with more of the beads you used on the shells. That should give it movement like the water would have. I have seen lots of wire wrapping but the small gold rounds add a special touch. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Becky, I thought about a spiral rope at first (it/s what I did on my pink and white freeform) but I am leaning towards just using pearls, I have some in the same blue as the beads on the shell. I can't decide what I like best, I do beading, wirework and silver smith work, I guess I am just like to do a little of just about everything when it comes to jewelry. Annita
DeleteEverything is simply lovely! Wire-work, working with seed beads... I am very impressed by your talent! Nice work! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am glad you like my work. I love doing all kinds of jewelry techniques, can't make myself settle for just one. Annita
DeleteYour mermaid necklace is going to lookawesome when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nelly May, I am experimenting with several options for the Mermaid necklace and should have an idea of how to finish it soon. Annita
DeleteI can't help with suggestions on how to hang that necklace, but am in awe of your wire wrapping. I especially like what you did with the shell in the middle and the addition of the pearl. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteyou will have to come back and see the new post I finished the Mermaid's necklace. I think that wire wrapping is my favorite thing to do, I can't do it full time however, my hands just can't hold up to the abuse of the wires
DeleteI love your mermaid necklace, beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kepi, I just added a new blog entry, I finished the mermaid's necklace. Let me know what you think about how I finished it off Annita
DeleteAs I am very late to start hopping I got to see your Mermaid's Necklace in its full glory and it looks stunning :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gerda! I am so glad you liked it! Annita
DeleteBeautiful! Your mermaid necklace looks like it will be fantastic when it is finished.
ReplyDeleteI have a later post of the finished piece and have it listed on ETSY Hope you like how I finished it off. Thanks, Annita
