Well I now have 3 necklaces made from my soup ingredients. Still want to make earrings to go with all of them...

A little something I made today

This is what I made today. I had this fab focal for a while and it just hit me that it would look great with some labradorite beads that I picked up at the last bead show.

Bead Soup Pregress

Well I finally finished the first piece from the Bead Soup that Alice sent me, about time since my reveal in the end of this month.

Made a necklace with the focal and some seedies (with a few other things mixed in)


Now I need to come up with an idea for the fab button that she sent as a clasp, I am leaning towards using it as a focal also, it is so neat on it's own.


Best get to work!

Think I will just "wing it!"

I can't really decide what to do with my bead soup so I think I will just sit down and wing it. Started beading without a plan will see what happens.

Sometimes I wonder....

Sometimes I wonder about myself. I have been looking at the lovely selection of beads and things that Alice sent me for Bead Soup and I am just stumped. I have moved them around and around and added and taken away and still no inspiration.

Does this happen to others? Any ideas? I think I will just gather up a stack of beading mags and hope that something clicks!

I love the look of the ceramic button with some labradorite beads and large round that I have. The cylinder focal looks great with some of the more natural looking gemstone beads that I have and a great seed bead mix that I found in my stash. I have not really worked any textiles into my beadwork before so the beige silk has me intrigues also.... decisions, decisions, decisions.....


Don't give up on me, I only have until the end of this month to come up with something. Surely I can make a decision and make it work!

Bead Soup has arrived Yea!!

Yea!! My Bead Soup arrived today from Alice, I couldn't even wait to get home to open it! Here I was sitting in the parking in front of the Post Office ripping open the package and oohing and aahing over it all!


The Raku button is made by Duane Collins and the Ceramic tube is from Lima Beads!

Now I need to put my designer hat on and make something!!

My package from Alice is scheduled to arrive on Friday! Can't hardly wait!!

Bead Soup

Well, I finally decided what to send to Alice Craddick my Bead Soup partner. I have it all packaged up and ready to go to the post office in the morning. Sure hope she is happy with the selection.

Just thought I would post pics of a few of my recent makes. The yellow set was made from some of the beads that I picked up at the last Gem Faire that I featured in a previous post. Hope you like them.

What to send to my partner??? Decisions, decisions....

I have been digging through my bead stash looking for something special to send to my Bead Soup partner Alice. Have quite a few piles spread out on my work table. Now I need to make a decision!

So excited to be participating in the Bead Soup Blog Party.. have my partner assigned, now need to work out the exchange of goodies and get started.

Just wanted to show what I recently picked up at the Gem Faire here in Tulsa. We are so lucky to have an average of four bead shows during the year, about once every 3 months. The Gem Faire is the one I look forward to the most, however, due to the fact that there are more tools for my silver smith work available and a wide variety of cabs to ooh and ahh over. I tried to restrain my shopping this trip and was more selective in my purchases. Can't wait for the next bead show!!

Just completed the second day of the silver smith class, finished my pendant, made 2 rings and a bangle bracelet.

I gave one of the rings to my friend Nancy who is taking the class with me, you can see her hands working on her pendant here.

Here is a shot of the pieces that I completed so far

Tomorrow will be the last day of class, as you can see, I have already started on another pendant. I have my bezel already mounted to the base and have figured out what design elements to add to it. Will just need to solder all the bits and pieces onto the base in the morning and then move on to the cutting, buffing, mounting of the stone and polishing. Will post more after tomorrow's class.

this is sort of what it will look like when finished, I still need to add the bail to the back, polish the silver, and mount the ocean jasper in the bezel...

So excited, today is the first day of my Advanced Silver Smith class. Can't wait to "play with fire" again. I am taking my camera and plan to document the class.
