Bead Soup

Well, I finally decided what to send to Alice Craddick my Bead Soup partner. I have it all packaged up and ready to go to the post office in the morning. Sure hope she is happy with the selection.

Just thought I would post pics of a few of my recent makes. The yellow set was made from some of the beads that I picked up at the last Gem Faire that I featured in a previous post. Hope you like them.

What to send to my partner??? Decisions, decisions....

I have been digging through my bead stash looking for something special to send to my Bead Soup partner Alice. Have quite a few piles spread out on my work table. Now I need to make a decision!

So excited to be participating in the Bead Soup Blog Party.. have my partner assigned, now need to work out the exchange of goodies and get started.

Just wanted to show what I recently picked up at the Gem Faire here in Tulsa. We are so lucky to have an average of four bead shows during the year, about once every 3 months. The Gem Faire is the one I look forward to the most, however, due to the fact that there are more tools for my silver smith work available and a wide variety of cabs to ooh and ahh over. I tried to restrain my shopping this trip and was more selective in my purchases. Can't wait for the next bead show!!

Just completed the second day of the silver smith class, finished my pendant, made 2 rings and a bangle bracelet.

I gave one of the rings to my friend Nancy who is taking the class with me, you can see her hands working on her pendant here.

Tomorrow will be the last day of class, as you can see, I have already started on another pendant. I have my bezel already mounted to the base and have figured out what design elements to add to it. Will just need to solder all the bits and pieces onto the base in the morning and then move on to the cutting, buffing, mounting of the stone and polishing. Will post more after tomorrow's class.

So excited, today is the first day of my Advanced Silver Smith class. Can't wait to "play with fire" again. I am taking my camera and plan to document the class.

This is my OTTBS May Challenge piece

Yea! I just won free beads! Ages ago I entered a contest on Beading Daily to name a necklace that was featured in the beader's challenge section of the Feb/Mar issue of the magazine and they liked the name that I suggested and sent this wonderful selection from Red Panda Beads! Can't wait to see what I can make from them.

Had a great time at the Edison Spring Market yesterday, especially spending time with my sister who had a small selection of items in the booth. Was concerned when first arrived in the morning to set the pop up tent up, the school's sprinklers were going right in the area we were to set up. Finally found someone to turn them off and it dried up eventually.

Help!

My niece is getting married on the beach in the Bahamas at the end of August and I have offered to make her some bare-foot sandals with crystals and pearls. Can anyone direct me to a good tutorial for these? Thanks, Annita

This is my April Challenge piece for the OTTBS mood board. The theme was citrus, with a bonus for using buttons!

This is my latest creation, I have had these beads for over a year and just didn't know what to do with them. This is when inspiration hit and I came up with this. I am currently working on a matching bracelet and debating whether it needs the side dangles and if so if they should be on both sides....

This is my "Fruit Loop" bracelet that I made a few years ago (it was featured in the WORD section of the June/July 2009 Beadwork Magazine. It is still on of my favorite bracelets to wear, goes with almost anything and gets lots of comments.

Haven't been on the blog for a while, been too busy gathering all my tax stuff to take to the cpa. Finally got all of that together and delivered...hope I didn't miss anything. Today my goal is to clean and re-organize the bead room. After that I can play with my beads and create something. Time to dive into the mess that is the craft room...wish me luck!

Another day, another bead

Haven't really done much beading in the last week or so, think today might be the day to create something. Since it is "Superbowl Sunday" and I am not really a "sports person" I plan to retire to my bead room and see what I can come up with. Will post results of my efforts later.
